Ithaca progressives celebrate Mayday 2024 at Bernie Milton Pavillion on the Ithaca Commons. A crowd of attendees mingle with organizers at their tables in front of the pavillion stage. Trees/flowers are in full bloom with Ithaca CPUSA banner in the background

Welcome to the Ithaca CPUSA!

We're a group of Ithacans dedicated to working-class struggle and liberation for all.

What is the CPUSA?

CPUSA is a political party with over 100 years of history in the struggle for progressive causes in the United States. Founded in 1919, the party has fought for democracy, labor rights, women's rights, racial justice and peace since it's inception. Founded on the foundations of Maxism-Leninism, the CPUSA fights to organizine all members of the working class to transform our nation and the world into one that is run by and for the working class. You can read more about the party on the main national site.

What actions are we involved with in Ithaca?

The Ithaca club of the CPUSA is and has been involved in several movements in the Ithaca area, including:

  • The Just Cause Campaign, to push for Just Cause protections for Ithaca workers.
  • The Good Cause Eviction campaign (which was just passed by the Ithaca Common Council in the summer of 2024!).
  • Supporting local labor unions (Including the Starbucks Workers Union, REI Union, and the UAW) in whatever ways we can including attending rallies.
  • Supporting local non-profits through volunteering and event organizing.

What's it like to be a member?

The club meets regularly to coordinate our actions in the local community, study, and build strong bonds of comradeship between our members. CPUSA clubs are working organizations, and our meetings are structured to ensure we're effective at fighting for the working class in our community. If you're looking to tangibly impact the lives of everyone in Ithaca and the surrounding community, you should be a part of what we're building.

How do I join?

Those interested in joining the club should fill out the application on the national website. It can take a little bit to process, but someone should reach out to you to schedule onboarding.
